Pagan: Fate of Roanoke follows 2 players – the witch and the hunter – in their efforts to decide the fate of the Roanoke colony. The witch is searching for ingredients and spells to power up a ritual where Mother Nature reclaim the colony. The hunter is trying to find the witch and stop her before nature reclaims the villagers and their homes through recruiting allies and interrogating information from villagers. Set in the backdrop of early American colonization and the vibes of the witch trials, this game offers an interesting take on why the Roanoke colony disappeared.

An asymmetrical game, each player has their own 50-card deck with their own goals and methods to achieve them. The witch’s deck allows her to brew potions, power up her familiar, and collect secrets for her ritual. The hunter’s deck works to gain allies and support to bring the witch to justice before she can complete her spell.

This LCG (Living Card Game) functions very similarly to a board game. The base game comes with the witch, hunter, and basic villagers. Expansions will fill out the game with other villagers, new encounters, and ways to continue to beguile your opponent. Instead of using dice, the randomization and strategy comes in the form of the deck of cards and what you draw each turn, allowing for ever-changing plays. As more expansions come out, gameplay can shift and change depending on what you have before you, leading to a lifetime of fun!
