Dragons & Drafts
Do you like adventure and beer?! Then you’re in the right place! Dragons & Drafts is a new series of events hosted by Just Games Lexington and local breweries and bars. We plan to start hosting events in March, with more added to the schedule based on demand. We welcome beginners and seasoned adventurers alike!
What is played at Dragons & Drafts?
As the name suggests, we will mostly be hosting Dungeons & Dragons, the classic tabletop role-playing game originally created in the 1970’s. There are several editions of D&D, and we will note which edition we’re playing on the event page. There are also some great spinoffs of D&D, such as Dungeon Crawl Classics, that are also easy to learn and a blast to play.
Do you need to know how to play already?
Nope! Our Dungeon Masters are excited to welcome both seasoned veterans and beginners. They teach you when/what dice to roll and what it means, how to play and understand your character, and they’ll take you and the other players on an amazing home brewed story!
What's a Dungeon Master?
The most essential part of the Dragons & Drafts experience is the Dungeon Master aka the DM. This person creates a 3+ hour story for a table of players to experience. They are your guide and they roll/act for the monsters and non-player characters (NPCs) you will encounter. Without the DM you’d have no adventure.
How do you sign up to play?
Ready to play? Wonderful! Check out upcoming events on our calendar and sign up online. Don’t wait, space is limited to only 5 or 6 players per DM. All Dragons & Drafts events are for ages 21+. Email us at zander[at]justgameslex.com if you would like to be placed on the waitlist for a specific event.
I'm an experienced player, is that ok?
Perfectly ok! We have lots of players that want to jump into one of our one-off adventures to scratch the itch and roll some dice! Just understand that there could be other players at your table who are completely new, so we need your patience as well while we teach them. We do provide with you the character sheet but you’re welcome to bring your own dice.
How long can I expect to be at the event?
We are respectful of the brewery/bar closing times, though most will allow us to play while clean up occurs (<1 hr extra). No matter what, you will get a minimum 3 hour long one shot adventure. Because the players and DM will get so engaged in the story, your one shot could last longer. But if you need to be somewhere by a certain time, make sure you communicate that with your DM so they can send you and your character off from the journey!
Can my venue host Dragons & Drafts?
We are happy to consider your venue as a Dragons & Drafts location! We are looking for restaurants, breweries, or vineyards located within half an hour of downtown Lexington. Our goal is to help bring patrons into your establishment at otherwise slow times for roughly 3-4 hours. Group sizes are roughly six people who need room for food, drinks, and playing materials. Noise levels should be low enough that players can hear each other across the table without having to shout. Please contact us at zander[at]justgameslex.com to discuss further.
